3rd International Summer School for Big Data - Aug. 19.-25. 2017

From August 21st to 25th 2017 the two in Germany based Big Data Competence Centers ScaDS Dresden/Leipzig and BBDC are organizing the third international Big Data summer school in its series. The event aims at students, graduate students, as well as  academic and industrial practitioners and researchers starting or being active in the field of Big Data. Within the program, we offer inspiring insights into the diverse field of Big Data by selected keynotes from international experts combined with possibilities for practical sessions to directly try out state-of-the-art techniques on relevant practical topics. The summer school covers the basics of working with large and complex amounts of data and provides an overview of relevant approaches and solutions. Thus, the participants can gain an insight into current research areas and acquire basic practical Big Data skills. Furthermore, there will be plenty of opportunities to exchange ideas and to discuss the topics with other participants and speakers. The talks and keynotes cover a broad range of relevant topics and will be held in English. The practical sessions start with a Hackathon prior to the actual school start and will be continued during the week in tutorial-style sessions.

Registration

We would like to welcome applicants from relevant disciplines and research domains working or want to start in the field of Big Data, which might be, but not exclusively, researchers, doctoral candidates and students. Accepted candidates are expected to to participate fully in the activities of the school until its end, on Friday, Aug. 25th (see schedule). Furthermore, we highly recommend to take part in the prior Hackathon event, to get in close contact on a technical level with researchers working in the field.

The places for the summer school are limited - so early registration is highly recommended. Furthermore, we have to raise a fee In order to cover expenses to host the event. This includes the attendance to all summer school sessions, the social event and coverage of the catering during day. The attendance to the prior Hackathon is free of charge!

We highly encourage current master students to apply for the hackathon and the summer school. By providing a recommendation letter by master students (from at least one Professor of the candidate), we reserve the right to charge no fee for the summer school in this case. If you want to apply for a student attendance, please Diese E-Mail-Adresse ist vor Spambots geschützt! Zur Anzeige muss JavaScript eingeschaltet sein!

To register, please follow the link to the external registration page. The registration is closed and all places are filled.

Type of fee academia/university industry
Early Bird (until July 16th) 300 € 400 €
Regular Registration 400 € 600 €
