6th International (online) Summer school on AI and Big Data

News: Online-Event from July 7th and July 8th, 2020

We are happy to announce that the German Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig) will host the sixth international summer school on AI and Big Data. Due to the COVID-situation we decided to host our first online summer school. The event aims at graduate students, Ph.D. students, researchers as well as practitioners starting or being active in the areas of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and/or Big Data. Within the online program, we offer inspiring insights into the area by selected research keynotes from international experts combined with industrial talks.

A summerschool needs to provide opportunities to exchange ideas and to discuss the topics with other participants and speakers. Within our program we will offer plenty of time to get in contact with the speakers and allow you to ask questions. Moreover on the first day of the summerschool we will organize our first online science speed dating. The idea is to also bring in social aspects, in an online setting. Within the speed dating, participants will be able to get to connect and partner with other international researchers.

Slides and Recordings

We are currently clarifying to what extent the slides and recordings of the individual talks can be made available. Please check back here from time to time in the coming days to find out more.

Impressions of the last years

Dieses erweiterte Zentrum trägt den Namen ScaDS.AI (Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence) Dresden/Leipzig.

In dringenden Fällen kontaktieren Sie uns bitte per Email.

Machine Learning Community (MLC) Dresden - second workshop

We are glad to announce the second workshop of the Machine Learning Community (MLC) Dresden which will take place on 16th of May 2019 at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden - Rossendorf (HZDR). It is co-organised by HZDR and the Competence Center for Scalable Data Services and Solutions (ScaDS). In this workshop researchers in the field of machine learning are invited to come together, exchange their ideas, discuss problems and plan future cooperations in an easy-going atmosphere.

We welcome abstracts for talks atDiese E-Mail-Adresse ist vor Spambots geschützt! Zur Anzeige muss JavaScript eingeschaltet sein! by 25th of April. Please choose the length of your presentation: 10, 25 or 45 minutes. In the short talks also questions to the community, open points for discussion and work-in-progress can be presented. The length of the Abstract should be between three lines and half a page. Title: PrivApprox: Privacy-Preserving Stream Analytics
How to preserve users’ privacy while supporting high-utility analytics for low-latency stream processing?
To answer this question: we describe the design, implementation and evaluation of PRIVAPPROX, a data analytics system for privacy-preserving stream processing. PRIVAPPROX provides three important properties: (i) Privacy: zero-knowledge privacy guarantee for users, a privacy bound tighter than the state-of-the-art differential privacy; (ii) Utility: an interface for data analysts to systematically explore the trade-offs between the output accuracy (with error estimation) and the query execution budget; (iii) Latency: near real-time stream processing based on a scalable “synchronization-free” distributed architecture.
The key idea behind our approach is to marry two techniques together, namely, sampling (used for approximate computation) and randomized response (used for privacy-preserving analytics). The resulting marriage is complementary—it achieves stronger privacy guarantees, and also improves the performance for stream analytics.
